According to Wager, the third future is counter culture meaning of communism. It is higher stage of socialism. Under this system, people live by themselves and people think that they do not need the service of public officials. Wager argued that this future is ideal one because competition does not exist. I think it is difficult to make this future ideal one because, people have to corporate each other.

Wager's second future is Democratic socialism. It is compatible with technocracy or technocratic elites. It is classless and it emphasize the equal standard for all of people, therefore winners and losers will not exist. However, as long as the world is governed by a central guidance system, the danger remains that the apparatus will learn how to disempower the people it was created to serve. Democratic socialism will also collapse as capitalism. I think that to create a classless society sounds nice, but it also implies that the effort of people may be disregarded.It is clear that people complain about that.

summary and explanation of Wagar's first future, opinion about Wagar's first future.


Wagar's first future is globalized liberal demogratic capitalism. Breakthroughs in technology, the exploitation of new markets, and the fresh energies released by the diffusion of political democracy will keep the system. However, capitalism will collapse because it produces income differences, therefore it is good for winners, but it also produce losers. In addition, it costs amount of the money to keep the system smoothly by servicing deficits, paying for the military or caring for the increasing number of elderly people. I thought that capitalism has both advantage and disadvantage, but to produce income differences is a serious problem. It should be considered more seriously and find the best way for the future.
